    Is it time to detox?

Most of us don’t expect things like our cars, homes, or appliances to run to perfection without regular tune-ups. Cars need regular oil changes. Homes need roof-replacements and spring clean-ups. Vacuums need filters changed.

So why do we expect our bodies to run to perfection without regular tune-ups?

Everyday our bodies are exposed to harmful toxins:

    • Air – we breathe in air polluted with carbon monoxide, lead, ozone, mold spores, bacteria and more. With each breath we breathe, we are exposing ourselves to inhalant toxins.
    • Food – most Americans consume “factory” made food laced with artificial preservatives, pesticides, steroids, antibiotics, hormones, dyes, waxes, artificial sweeteners, plus some. And we just can’t seem to ever get enough, consuming more than our bodies were ever intended to handle.
    • Body care products – just about every soap, shampoo, lotion, hair spray, and even make-up are made up of parabens, sulfates, petroleum by-products, alcohol, mineral oil… ready to be soaked up by our bodies’ largest organ – our skin. And what goes on our skin goes into our bloodstream.
    • Household cleaners – you know, all those chemicals that no one can pronoun. Need I say more?
    • Prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications – we are given one pill after another for any and every ailment. These medications come with a royal list of side effects, which are then treated with another pill… which comes with more side effects… I think you know where I am going from here.

Now, the good news is… our bodies were created to naturally remove these nasty toxins and heal on their own. Detoxification is one of the body’s most basic automatic functions of eliminating and neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Our livers are responsible for filtering every extra hormone, toxins, and medications from our blood stream. Our colons are responsible for removing toxic waste we consume through eating. Our skin filters and protects the rest of our body from outside toxins.

However, even though our bodies are naturally able to “clean up shop” so to speak, they function much better with a little spring cleaning.  If we constantly bombard our cleansing systems with too many toxins of this modern-day living, our bodies are going to take a beating. There are only so many beatings one’s body can handle before it finally breaks.

Here is a small list of what could happen if your body isn’t given proper TLC:

    • Allergies or intolerance to certain foods, chemical imbalances
    • Bad breath and foul-smelling gas and stools
    • Gastrointestinal problems; constipation, diarrhea, sluggish elimination, irregular bowel movements and frequent intestinal disorders
    • Frequent congestion, colds, and viruses and lowered resistance to infections
    • General aches and pains that migrate from one place to another, lower back pain, joint pain,
    • Low energy; loss of vitality for no apparent reason; frequent headaches for no apparent reason
    • Chronic fatigue or insomnia
    • Pain in your liver, kidneys or gall bladder
    • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast soreness, vaginal infections, infertility
    • Skin problems like acne, psoriasis, eczema, rashes, boils, pimples and hives

It’s kind of crazy to think that all of these symptoms are linked to toxin overload isn’t it?

Are you ready to show your body (and yourself) some love?

I tried a gall bladder cleanse once, it was pretty vile so I’ve never done it again. I’ve also heard of some rather interesting detox/cleanse formulas that I’m kind of afraid to try! LOL! So, I’m curious to see what you have to say on the subject. I definitely feel like I need to clean out my body. I need to lose a ton of weight and I feel like I’m a walking cesspool from so many years of eating garbage!

I would love more information on detox. I think it would be a good thing for myself and my 2 daughters (16 & 21) to do together. Please provide more details. Thanks!
